What happens when we let go of ourselves when meeting others and instead experience how we resonate in one another?
Every week you can participate in a collective manuscript reading in Monia Sander Haj-Mohamed’s exhibition Heavy Body, Heavenly Body. The table read is an improvised and non-choreographed collective reading of the artist’s scripts, where the participants themselves take charge.
The text and the manuscript reading will be in English.
Entry to O—Overgaden is always free of charge, and the same goes for the series of table reads.
A meeting that becomes a performance piece
The readings will be recorded and later played in Monia Sander Haj-Mohamed’s exhibition, as an audio track and performance piece titled Nothing That Goes Through Me Belongs to Me (2022). The work will expand and grow, with new voices being included throughout the exhibition period.
Monia Sander Haj-Mohamed has written the script for their current exhibition Heavy Body, Heavenly Body (11 June – 7 August) at O—Overgaden. The character ‘Spectator’ figures in the text as a lone voice and the audience is invited to activate themselves and participate throughout the reading. The text’s layers of meaning, and the ways it can be understood and interpreted, change from reading to reading as new groups meet and add their voices.
