Asynchronicity – part of the new ‘Deadtime Talks’-series by performance artist and research fellow at O—Overgaden Cally Spooner
w. Will Holder, Rhea Dall, Aukje Lepoutre Ravn, Cally Spooner, and Jesper List Thomsen
Monday 20 June 5-7pm
Free entrance / open for everyone to join

Taking place at O—Overgaden over the course of a year, the series of talks investigates how “performance” has come to govern the entire realm of our social bonds. How might this this governance be resisted?

Each talk fluctuates between live performance, casual conversation, and academic content to build an ongoing local conversation on our present ‘performance’ condition.

The evening’s terms are set out, with Will Holder vocally publishing a first draft of Cally Spooner’s ‘A Lecture on Asynchronicity’,thatreflects on a diverse set of propositions for alternative, fugitive temporalities, affects and bodily practices that bent and subvert familiarity and which deliberately, or naturally, remained out of sync. Next, Cally Spoonerupdates Rhea Dall and Aukje Lepoutre Ravn and the audience on Asynchronicity; a symposium-like gathering of choreographies, lectures, sounds, screenings, and discussions that unraveled (in May 2022) at Kölnischer Kunstverein, Cologne and Ludwig Forum, Aachen. Finally Jesper List Thomsen reads Blackbirds, a text and performance that disrupts the relations between language, body and site of origin.

Part of the research project Deadtime

‘Deadtime Talks’ is part of Cally Spooner’s long term research project ‘Deadtime’ (since 2018) in which she finds and handles temporal structures beyond the Clock-Time standardizations that force labor, bodies, nervous systems, and digital technologies into a completely metric-orientated future.

More talks in the “Deadtime series to come” in October 2022, December 2022, and Spring 2023.

Cally Spooner & O—Overgaden

Last year, O—Overgaden welcomed Cally Spooner, as associated research fellow in collaboration with the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and the University of Copenhagen, to develop a long-term itinerant performance, moonlighting as book, philosophy study, rehearsal, and opera.
