Three-day workshop: Cally Spooner x Maggie Segale

Please join us this Thursday, Friday, or Saturday, September 21–23, daily: 3–5pm, when artist Cally Spooner and dancer Maggie Segale evolve a new work in a three-day workshop – open for audiences to come by and watch.
Cally Spooner is currently presenting the work-in-progress exhibition Duration at O—Overgaden. This week, dancer Maggie Segale—protagonist of the 2021 film DEAD TIME (Maggie’s Solo) on show at O—Overgaden and Spooner’s long-term collaborator—will join Spooner to develop this into new choreography during a three-day workshop open to the public.
In the workshop, the film installation becomes a choreographic toolbox from which a new sound work—a sonic dance—will be evolved live in the exhibition space, through a conversation between Segale and Spooner.
Admission is free, as is always the case at O—Overgaden.
Since 2021, the international visual artist Cally Spooner (b. 1983, UK) has been an associate research fellow at O—Overgaden, developing a long-term itinerant project that is moonlighting as choreography, sound, book, rehearsal, philosophy study, and opera. Her exhibition Duration is on show at O—Overgaden through 29 October 2023.
Maggie Segale (b. 1991, US) is an artist working in dance and performance. Maggie started working with Cally Spooner in 2016 and has continued as a collaborator in numerous roles including performer, archive, and co-choreographer. Maggie completed the Maumaus Independent Study Program in Lisbon in 2022, and graduated from The Juilliard School in NYC in 2014. Maggie is currently a graduate assistant at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
